Journal - What are your hobbies and extra curricular activities? Where do you spend your free time? Tell me three of your favorite things (movies, TV show, magazine, sport, color, etc.)

Some of my hobbies include volleyball and soccer. Out of both of those my favorite one is volleyball. I have always liked it better I don't know why, I guess I normally connect with the people more and have a better time in general. I spend most of my free time at my house or in the gym for volleyball. The majority of the time it is at my house, though. When I am at my house I will just sit there and do nothing. Three of my favorite things include volleyball, the movie National Treasure, and sitting at home. National Treasure is by far my favorite movie and watch it every time it shows on television  which also happened to be last night. Also with doing nothing, that goes hand-in-hand with relaxing which is also another thing that I like doing. That is all of the things I enjoy doing and do when I have the chance.

Who I Am I Presentation

Wednesday, August 28th

Journal - What are some qualities of a good presentation? How can you make a boring presentation interesting? Explain.

I think that good qualities to a presentation are eye contact, confidence, and loudness. With eye contact it shows the confidence. The confidence will maintain peoples attention and want to keep there attention once you have it. having confidence shows that you are okay being up and and will make people think positively about you and the presentation. The loudness will be so everyone can hear you and don't have to think that hard when you listen. What makes a boring presentation interesting it color. The more color that you have the more "eye popping" the presentation will be, this will keep peoples attention. When actually presenting you would need color in your personality as well. Basically, be fun when presenting. Those are some things that would be necessary for me to have an exciting presentation.

Journal - Tell me if you agree with this statement and then explain why or why not. "Images on the internet are 'free game' - if someone posted I should be able to use it."

I think that the statement is right and wrong. I would like to believe that all people are generally good people, and if that bad picture came along then they would not use it. That is the point in the disagreement. However, some people do believe that no matter what the image is, and believe that it is okay to use, the person that posted it had a reason and a good point, though that might not always be the case. These are the people who believe the picture would be free game. On the other hand, and the side I agree with more, just because it is posted doesn't mean you should be able to use it. Some of the pictures might not be okay to be put up on the web and to be spread. It should not  viable to all viewer, and should be thought through before taking the picture as free game. Overall, the statement is wrong but can be arguable from the other side.

Journal - What is the importance of online safety and protecting your information? What do you do to protect yourself online? Share an experience you or someone you know has had with online safety.

The importance of online safety is so people don't find you online, figure out a bunch of information on you and then come to kill you or steal or identity and etc. As for protecting your information, you want to keep the very personal things off the internet, because once it is there it will never go away. Things that I do to keep myself safe is following the basic guidelines that we were taught when we were young kids, like no talking to people you don't know and if you do no giving out personal information. Also for Web 2.0 safety, i think twice before i will post anything and make sure it would be okay and safe to post. An experience that my cousin had, was once he was online and he was playing some game that you could play and then talk to other players. He told me that some person was talking to him and asking him somewhat personal questions. At that point he was getting a bit suspicious and was not telling much of the truth to the person. After that he deleted his account, for the fear of someone hacking him. In my opinion he handled it decently well, and pretty much followed the rules of online safety.

Journal - Tell me what you know about Web 2.0. List example Web 2.0 sites. Are you on any sites that let you “post” information? What are those sites? How often do you use them? What do you post on them?

Web 2.0 is a website you can post information on, or things that are social networking sites. Sites that are included in web 2.0 are Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, Vine, Pintrest, Facebook, YouTube  and Myspace. I am only on one of the sites that lets you post things. The only one is Instagram. I don't post anything that often, but on a daily basis I normally check it twice a day, or if I am busy I will check it only once a day. The stuff I post on them are funny things that I might find. I might also post just something interesting that I did or am doing, if I take a picture. I find that other people use it for the same things but sometimes they will post a picture and then write a message to go with it regarding important information or something to that effect. Some people also post videos of funny things that they are doing, or maybe just some random statement or challenge they put them selves up to. Being the only one i have, Instagram would be my favorite web 2.0 site.

Journal - After watching the short clip of Ashton Kutcher's acceptance speech what did you take away from his advice? What does this quote mean to you -"Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you, and you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use."
I took away that opportunities don’t just come. Opportunities are something that you have to work for. The work would be hard, something that you might have to spend late nights and early mornings on. Things that you have to want that success on. The distance that you are willing to travel that is a great amount is the amount of work that you do. Once that the success is achieved with the work then the opportunities might start coming towards you. The opportunities that do come could be a step, because at the last opportunity you should have worked. From there you go and progress till you get to the true success and opportunity that you want. When he said that to be sexy was to be smart, and to be kind, caring, and generous. I agree with that. The person who is the smartest and the most generous will “win” the game of life. They will be the people that come out with the better jobs that make six figures. Out of his whole speech it showed that the work that you do will help in the long, and how generous and nice you are, will end up getting you so far in life.

In the quote, Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you, and you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use," it gives perspective to work hard. It means that smartness isn’t something that you were born with but something you must find on your own. It tell me to never stop reaching, that I won’t have to be the smartest person to achieve success, just be the most persistent and the one that wants it the most, wants it more than the next person. With that want and persistence you then take it and use it to create. With that creation you use it, and then other people will use it, and influence everyone around it. That is what the quote means to me.
